SHEZ: WE WERE A SOFT TOUCH
Unhappy boss John Sheridan berated his side's performance after the 2-0 defeat at Northampton.
Two second-half goals sunk Latics, who looked under the weather for long spells and mustered few chances throughout.
The Boundary Park chief was a frustrated spectator, labelling his side a 'soft touch' after the game.
"Players who played very well against Leyton Orient looked completely different today," he said.
"I want players who want to get out of this league and who will perform week in, week out.
"I'm probably saying similar things to what [Orient manager] Martin Ling said last week. They wanted it more than us and it showed.
"We were not effective today; we looked poor, weak and a bit of a soft touch.
How many times have I said the word 'consistency' this year?
"I don't like any team of mine playing like that -- we didn't threaten their goal at all, really."
Sheridan also revealed the reason behind Chris Taylor's late omission from the squad, explaining:
"Chris had to pull out with a virus, which was a shame because he's a player who gives us a lot of energy."
