Starlet Chris Taylor signed a new deal until summer 2010 in April 2007.
The midfielder made his full debut in the 3-0 home win against Nottingham Forest in 2005/06, going on to make 13 further appearances.
Taylor made further progress during 2006/07, appearing 51 times and scoring his first goal for the club in the 1-1 draw at Carlisle.
He scored a further three goals in the play-off run-in, including a double against Doncaster Rovers.
The announcement of a new deal at Boundary Park put an end to speculation that Taylor may leave the club in a big-money move.
Taylor was again a regular in 2007/08, chipping in with five goals.
Athletic rejected an offer from an unnamed club for the player in summer 2008, with Taylor himself reiterating his desire to stay at Boundary Park.
