Paul Black's performances at reserve and youth level were rewarded with a deal until the end of the 2009/10 season in February 2008.
An integral part of the youth team since the start of the 2006/07 season, Black progressed into a reserve-team regular and went on to captain the second string.
He was included in a matchday squad for the first time in November 2007.
Internationally, Black was placed on standby for the England under-18 squad in the same month.
Black made his first-team debut as a substitute in the 4-1 win over Huddersfield in March 2008.
He also made one further appearance the following month in the home win over Cheltenham.
